Mouse Thanks

Hi and welcome to another fabulous sketch at Freshly Made Sketches!  Today, our hostess is the amazing Amy O'Neil and she has a wonderful sketch that I'm sure to use again and again.

I wanted to make a thank you card as a new blogging friend, Barb Ghigliotty, had very kindly sent me some die-cuts after I admired a card on her blog.  Hopefully, she will have received the card in the mail by now :)

I started with a white card base (shocker!) and then layered two smaller white panels together.  Onto the smaller panel, I adhered the stacked die-cut "thanks" word from Reverse Confetti cut in white and stacked two high to stand out more from the base.  One was die-cut in gold foil cardstock as well.  The little mouse comes from Harvest Mouse and I colored her with Copics and added a touch of Wink of Stella to the flowers.

Thanks for visiting.  The rest of the design team have some wonderful inspiration, so be sure to check them out.

Find Your Paradise

It's time for another Mix it Up Challenge at Sugar Pea Designs so check out this week's challenge:

I played along with the sketch this week and let the pineapple from Pineapple Paradise take centre stage.

This is a very simple card.  I die-cut the pineapple then stamped it using Sunshine and Fern inks.  The beautifully-scripted sentiment was stamped using Stazon ink onto vellum and die-cut with the Stitched Flags die.  The vellum was then stitched onto a piece of ombre patterned paper and adhered to a white card base.  Lastly, I adhered the pineapple using foam tape.

Thanks for visiting!

Here are the guidelines to join in our challenge:

  • Create a new card or project using the sketch provided.
  • SugarPea Designs stamps are NOT required to play along or to win but would be appreciated :)
  • You may rotate/flip the sketch & replace shapes – so long as the original sketch layout is recognizable.
  • Upload to your blog or other Online Gallery using Keyword: SPDMIU5 so that we may check out your beautiful work.
  • One randomly selected winner will receive a $25 Gift Certificate to the SugarPea Designs store. However, if the winning entry features a SugarPea Designs stamp we will increase the prize to $50!
  • We will announce our Main Winner at the end of each month.
  • The more times you play along during the month, the better chance you have of winning!

Amazing Day

Welcome!  Today's card was made for the sketch and color challenges at MFT Stamps, as well as the Patterned Paper theme at Simon Says Stamp and the Anything Goes challenge at Seize the Birthday.

I mirrored the sketch so the girl was looking into the card rather than out of it, but other than that, I pretty much stuck to the sketch.  I tried to color match Copics to the challenge colors and I'm not sure I got Blu Raspberry right, but it's as close as I could get it.  The background was covered with patterned papers from  the Thick & Thin and Watercolor Wash packs that I cut using a die from Blueprints 29.  I white embossed the sentiment and die-cut it, again using Blueprints 29 so it has stitched detail at either end to match the frame.

The little girl is popped up on foam tape and I didn't add any embellishments to the card.

Thanks for visiting.

Grateful

And here is my last card for Camp Create - this time Glitzy Glitter!  I used the inspiration at City Crafter and the CAS theme at Addicted to Stamps and More.

I don't do glitter, so this really was a challenge for me!  I used glitter paper in a beautiful white color for my die-cut grateful.  The pale blue gingham patterned paper was mounted onto foam tape after I stamped the sentiment in black ink.  I wanted to keep the card very, very CAS in keeping with that gorgeous inspiration photo at City Crafter.

And that's it!  My last card for Camp Create!  It's been fun challenging myself - not only with different materials and techniques, but also to get five cards made in a week on top of DT commitments :)

Thanks for visiting!

Floral Hello

I'm on the countdown to the end of the Camp Create challenges over at MFT.  Today I'm posting my last two cards.  This one is for the Wonderful Watercolor challenge.  I've used the sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch, the colors from Color Throwdown and I also took inspiration from Tracey's beautiful card at Muse Card Club Challenge.  I stuck with the floral theme, the watercoloring and the black 'hello'.

I literally slapped some watercolor onto some scraps of watercolor paper and after drying the panels, I splattered some paint in the same color to add some interest before die-cutting them with the Scribble Roses dies.  For the roses, I also die-cut the Scribble Roses Overlays out of white and adhered them on top of the rose bases.

The sentiment was stacked three high then painted with Wink of Stella.

Thanks for visiting.

Hog My Heart

It's Freshly Made Sketch Challenge time and today our hostess is my Aussie friend, the fabulous Narelle Farrugia, and here is her sketch:

Oh, I love this sketch and as soon as I saw it, I wanted to use my new Hog Heaven stamp set.  I'm a sucker for Birdie Brown's stamp range and even though I tell myself I don't need her new sets, invariably I end up getting them.  I have the willpower of a gnat, I tell you!

My card is pretty self-explanatory.  I stamped, colored with Copics and die-cut the images and arranged them to meet the sketch.  For the sentiment banner, I white embossed the sentiment and cut it into a long, thin strip.  The heart was colored with Wink of Stella then covered in Glossy Accents for some added interest.

Thanks for visiting!  I highly recommend you check out the rest of the design team's cards, as they are amazing as usual.  And as an added bonus, we have two new Guest Designers joining us for the summer - Cecile Ribon and Shannon Jaramillo.  Welcome, ladies!

I'm linking this card up to Camp Create at MFT for their Delightful Die-cutting challenge.

Caffeine Addict

Hi and welcome to another fabulous Mix it Up Challenge at SugarPea Designs.  Here is this week's challenge:

I stuck with the sketch this week and came up with a card that I'm also submitting to the Coffee Lovers' Blog Hog.

I used my Zig markers to color this fun image die-cut with the Coffee To Go Cup.  I used Zig Zag Stitched Rectangles to make my white panel for the cup to rest on.  The straw from Caffeine Addict was stamped on the cup and lid to make it look like it was inside the cup then I also die-cut the straw and popped it behind the cup to add to the illusion.  The banners were hand cut and the patterned paper came from a pack of CTMH paper my mother gave me.

Wobbly Santa

Hi, I thought I'd better post my second card today that I made in the weekend and was too lazy to post!    This one uses the movement theme at MFT's Camp Create by putting an action wobble behind the adorable Santa from Jingle All The Way.  I'm also playing along with the stripes challenge at Just Add Ink.

You can't see the wobble in the photo of course, but it is so funny to watch him wobble on the card.  I colored him with Copics and popped him onto a white panel which is raised off the stripey card base.  I white embossed the sentiment and put it at the bottom to "ground" Santa.

Music for a Male

Hi and welcome!  I made this card on the weekend and completely forgot to post it.  It did use the colors from ColourQ but I've missed that challenge because I'm so slack :)  I also used the sketch from MFT and the bottom horizontal line at Tic Tac Toe (cork, metal, masculine).

I used dies to separate the panels on the sketch and for the "metal" part of the card, I embossed some silver cardstock with the Riveted Metal EF and then ran a black inkpad over the top before wiping off the excess with a paper towel.

I used a thin strip of cork to separate the metal from the card and the rest of it is pretty self-explanatory.

Thanks for visiting.

But First...

Hi!  I'm back for the second time today with my card for the Coffee Lovers Blog Hop, which has a summer theme.  My card also meets the themes at Curtain Call and City Crafter, so I'm linking up there too.  Inkspirational has a masking theme and as I did two different types of masking on this card, I'm adding my card.

This is a one layer card and involved masking off a strip on a white card base before sponging Antique Linen ink for the sand and Tumbled Glass ink for both the sea and the horizon, using a much lighter touch for the sky.  I also used a cloud mask for the sky.  Once I was finished sponging, I used a white gel pen for the waves and a Copic marker to add texture to the sand.

Once I was happy with the image, I removed the mask and stamped the sentiment in black ink.

A very simple card but I hope it evokes a feeling of peace while drinking coffee on a warm morning with a view like this :)

Thanks for visiting.

Elephant Shaker

Hi!  I'm popping in really quickly with a card I made using the soon-to-close Retro Sketch as well as the Spectacular Shakers challenge at MFT Stamps Camp Create.   I'm hoping by the end of the weekend to have completed all the Camp Create challenges.  Wish me luck!  As Seize the Birthday have an Anything Goes challenge, I'll link up there too.  This card also meets the challenge at CAS Mix Up and this is my second entry there (stamps, die-cuts and acetate/shaker)

I used the vertical panel in the sketch to make a fun shaker card for a little girl.  I die-cut the white panels and adhered acetate between them  I then white-embossed the sentiment and adhered that behind the acetate and that's where the foam tape sits to stop the sequins falling out the bottom of the card as the acetate goes right to the bottom.

Once I'd completed the shaker component, I worked on the embellishments.  Some of the gorgeous Homespun Gingham paper was used along the top along with some pink striped baker's twine.  The aptly-named adorable elephant and two butterflies were stamped, colored with Copics and die-cut.

Thanks for visiting!
